We congratulate and honour the “The Last Ocean”, for their dedication to conserving our world’s oceans and their inspirational work!
Winner of “Best Feature” at the Reel Earth Environmental Film Festival and touted by critics as spectacular, urgent, absorbing and glorious, “The Last Ocean” transports audiences to the Ross Sea in Antarctica and documents a desperate struggle to save one of the last pristine environments from industrial fishing. Californian ecologist David Ainley has been travelling to the Ross Sea to study this unique ecosystem for more than thirty years. He has written scientific papers describing it as a “living laboratory”. Largely untouched by humans, it is one of the last places where the delicate balance of nature still exists. But an international fishing fleet has found its way to the Ross Sea. It is targeting the Antarctic Toothfish, sold around the world in upmarket restaurants as Chilean Sea Bass.
