Please help us welcome the newest member of the VFOF sponsorship team, Michael Green Architecture!
Michael Green is Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, recognized for his award winning buildings, public art, interiors, landscapes and urban environments, Michael’s reputation has led him to develop a wide range of projects from international airports and skyscrapers to Vancouver’s Ronald McDonald House, North Vancouver City Hall and modest but unique retail spaces and homes. His work extends around the globe including current projects for the Aga Khan Trust for Culture designing a sustainable community in the mountains of Central Asia.
Michael Green has also been recognized by TED for his creativity in design and in 2013 he presented his vision for skyscrapers made from wood. His proposal: Forget steel, straw, concrete, shipping containers, and rammed earth. Use wood to erect urban skyscrapers. “When the Eiffel Tower was built, nobody thought it could be done. Now it’s a symbol of Paris,” Green told the Vancouver Sun. “Projects like it really triggered an innovation on how cities were built. Man moves by innovation and [by] aiming for the moon.”
MGA is also a 1% for the Planet business member and as such donates 1% of their profits to local environmental causes. More than that though, Michael has taken a leadership role in his own community by establishing 1% for the Hood This project aims to encourage businesses in the Gastown area of Vancouver to give back to their community.
Very are very lucky and honoured to welcome Michael Green and all of MGA to the VFOF family.
